LifeSpring Hospitals offers high quality maternal health care at an affordable price for low-income women and children in India LifeSpring Hospitals is an expanding chain of maternity hospitals that fills the void of high quality maternal healthcare for India’s lower income population. LifeSpring’s services are offered for 30 to 50 percent of prevailing market rates. The fee of a doctor’s consultation is Rs. 75 (US $1.60), and the all-inclusive price of a normal delivery in our general ward is between Rs. 2,000 to 4,000 (US $43 to $86). Our hospitals give all women an opportunity to experience safe and dignified childbirth. Lifespring’s core services are providing normal and caesarian deliveries, in addition to antenatal care, postnatal care, and family planning services. We provide healthcare over the entire course of the pregnancy. Our Growth Having started in 2007 with one hospital, we now operate nine hospitals. LifeSpring opened 5 new hospitals in 2008, and grew by an additional three in 2009. As of February 2010, we have delivered more than 5,600 babies and have served more than 100,000 outpatients. An Innovative, Low-Cost Model • LifeSpring's specialization in maternal healthcare has allowed us to significantly drive down costs, which are passed onto our customers. • Our doctors perform 4-6 deliveries per week (compared to 1-2 at private clinics). These high volumes enable optimal utilization of our most expensive asset, our doctors, decreasing unit costs. • Employing the use of paraskilling, LifeSpring hires Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) in addition to the more qualified General Nurse Midwives (GNMs). Our standardized clinical processes and high throughput allow less expensive medical staff to become highly productive.
