Health informatics is a new scientific discipline that incorporates knowledge from information science, computer science and various medical specialties. With the aging population, the need for remote monitoring applications is exploding and there is an urgent need for specialized training and research programs. The University of Northern Kentucky is building a new specialized training program to provide applied experimental learning using virtual patient-data. The poster presentation will provide information about how to build a Training and Research & Development environment for clinical decision making. It gives quick tips about how to setup an environment to study and experiment health data collection, solution design, and build a collaborative environment with application developers. Health leaders and scholars can learn from the program’s experience and build their own small or larger scale environments for their institution and academic environment.
