A Decision-Support Platform for Better Nutrition
Chad Bonner, Co-Founder, Usable Health
Can you imagine an interactive menu that knows what foods you like to eat, and recommends healthy items at your favorite restaurants and grocery stores? At Usable Health, we believe that making healthy choices should be that simple. Our patent-pending software converts evidence-based medicine into real-life recommendations, making it easy and fun to follow your doctor’s advice. What’s more, our recommendations are easily accessible on a number of platforms: touch-screen kiosks, a toll-free phone support line, SMS text messaging, and any web-enabled device. In a National Science Foundation-funded study conducted on the Georgia Tech campus, Usable Health has demonstrated a significant change in nutrition awareness and consumer behavior. Based on the success of this research pilot, several Georgia-based companies have signed up as customers. These companies have spent millions of dollars on employee wellness and disease management programs over the years—with little, if any, return on investment—and they view Usable Health as a clinically validated way to improve the health of their employees, and to reduce costs associated with chronic illnesses like obesity, diabetes, and coronary artery disease.
