OPENING KEYNOTE ADDRESS: Health IT as the Virtual Glue of the Transformed Health Care Organization – Paradigms, Potential and Pitfalls
- Examine current trends and frameworks related to EHRs and other types of HIT, particularly as applicable to data-driven population-based health care delivery
- Illustrate how HIT is central to the clinical analytic functions required of ACOs, Medical Homes and other transformed systems of care. Focus will be placed on HIT’s use in measuring and improving quality and on identifying and managing costs and outcomes of high-risk individuals
- Identify opportunities, challenges and success strategies critical to the design and implementation of HIT systems that will be the “glue” for tomorrow’s virtually integrated health care delivery systems

The World Congress Leadership Summit on Building the Data Infrastructure to Drive Evidence-Based Improvements in Health Care is designed to address the opportunities and challenges for providers in managing clinical data in today’s new health care environment. With an increased focus on accountability and adoption of EHRs, data is now a strategic asset for providers. Clinical analytics, or the use of clinical data to identify and measure quality, patient safety, business efficiency and improvements, has incredible potential to bring value to provider organizations by strengthening their ability to deliver high-value health care.
At this Summit, the audience will gain insights into the challenges of managing data well beyond ensuring that data resides in a database that has analytic tools. Through case studies and panel discussions, the audience will learn strategies for increasing access to data and its integration, developing analytical capabilities and interpretative skills for creating actionable data that will lead to long-term sustainable knowledge.
- Utilize clinical data for quality improvement to comply with CMS guidance
- Develop an internal data governance structure with oversight for data
integrity and a “single version of the truth”
- Create a data-driven organizational culture and develop managers who ask a question, not for a report
- Utilize your registry database to mine data for identifying high risk patients
- Develop the reporting structure to do population health data analysis to improve the delivery and quality of care
- Evaluate performance compared to quality improvement goals and
benchmarks
