Mr. Waters became the Information Industries Editor as of September 1999, for the Financial Times (based in New York.). He is responsible for the newspaper’s overall coverage of the information technology, telecommunications and media industries globally. This involves working closely with reporters in different parts of the world to coordinate our reporting on these industries and the convergence between them. Mr. Waters joined the Financial Times in 1987 and has held positions including the New York Bureau Chief (and led the newspaper’s US corporate and financial coverage), Financial Correspondent (responsible for paper’s coverage of international capital markets,) Securities Industry Correspondent and Accounting/Tax Correspondent. Mr. Waters has won such accolades as Reporter of the Year/British Press Awards, 1991 (with 3 others, for coverage of BCCI) and Accountancy Journalist of the Year, 1989.
