William Kriegel founded Sithe Energies in 1984. Currently, Sithe owns and operates 28 power plants in the United States and Canada, including 1,000 MW Independence Station in Oswego, New York, the largest non-utility-affiliated cogeneration plant in North America. Mr. Kriegel also serves as Chairman of Vivendi North America Holdings, which has significant investments in water, energy and waste management. Included in Vivendi North America Holdings is a majority stake in Aqua Alliance, a publicly traded American company specializing in the operation, maintenance, engineering and design of municipal water and wastewater systems.
