Edward G. Cazalet, Ph.D.
CEO and Co-founder
Automated Power Exchange (APX)

Ed Cazalet has 30 years of strategic consulting and software development experience in the electric power, and related industries. Mr. Cazalet received a Ph.D. in Decision Analysis at Stanford University in 1970. His Ph.D. dissertation on electric power system operation and planning laid down the basic theoretical foundations of the APX markets and systems. He has extended and applied these concepts throughout his career, first for 10 years at Stanford Research Institute, then for 10 years at Decision Focus, Inc., which he founded, and then for 10 years as an independent consultant to major electric utilities.

APX develops, operates and maintains energy exchanges that provide forward markets for the purchase and sale of electricity and related products, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Exchange participants make voluntary offers to buy or sell electricity over secure Internet connections at mutually acceptable prices.
