Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, obesity rates increased in 16 states during the past year while declining in
none. The threat of obesity is so severe in America today that for first time in two centuries, the current generation of
children may have shorter life expectancies than their parents. Studies from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention
recently predicted the annual direct and indirect costs of obesity are close to $147 billion.
