Jennifer Covich Bordenickis Chief Executive Officer at the eHealth Initiative and its Foundation in Washington, DC. Since 2002, Jennifer has provided leadership for programs, education and research components of the eHealth Initiative and its Foundation. Her areas of focus have included: health information exchange, regional extension centers, meaningful use, electronic prescribing, care coordination, patient and family engagement in health IT, privacy, drug safety, as well as the intersection of health reform and health IT. Prior to her current position, Jennifer headed up the strategic marketing efforts at two different technology organizations, focusing on solutions for the healthcare industry. She also spent four years at the National Committee for Quality Assurance as Director of Policy and Product Development, helping develop national quality standards for healthcare organizations. Jennifer began her career at the George Washington University, Medical Center and Health Plan working on quality management initiatives and healthcare administration. Jennifer earned a master's degree in Human Resource Development, and bachelor's degree in Psychology. She has also completed coursework in the doctoral program in healthcare administration at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. She resides in Washington, DC with her husband and two children.

Dr. Garber is a practicing Internist and the Medical Director for Informatics at Reliant Medical Group (formerly known as Fallon Clinic). He has had decades of experience and success in Medical Informatics. As a medical resident in 1986, he wrote an Electronic Medical Record program for his Amiga computer. Twenty years later, he led the successfully implementation of Epic’s Electronic Health Record system for the group’s 1 million visits each year, and spearheaded the development of interfaces to 5 regional hospitals, a home health agency, a reference lab, an imaging center, a quality data center, and a health plan.

Dr. Garber is Vice Chair of the Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative’s Executive Committee, a member of the Epic’s CareEverywhere HIE Governing Council, and a member of the Massachusetts State Health Information Technology and Health Information Exchange Advisory Committee. He was the Principal Investigator on the $1.5 Million AHRQ grant known as SAFE Health – the Secure Architecture For Exchanging Health Information. This central Massachusetts Health Information Exchange is currently live and self-sustaining using a federated patient “Opt-In” consent model. Dr. Garber is now leading the 3-year $2 Million HHS/ONC HIE Challenge Project known as IMPACT - Improving Massachusetts Post-Acute Care Transfers.

Dr. Garber has long been a proponent for patient safety, having served on Fallon Clinic’s risk management committee for many years, as well as co-authoring articles in JAMA and JAMIA on Adverse Drug Events in the ambulatory setting.

Dr. Garber is recipient of the 2010 Massachusetts Medical Law Report Rx for Excellence Award, the 2010 eHealth Initiative eHealth Advocate Award, the 2011 Health Data Management EHR Game Changer Award, and led Reliant to win the 2011 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Davies Ambulatory Award.
