Dr. Daniel Durand is the Chief Innovation Officer (CINO) for LifeBridge Health (LBH) in Baltimore, Maryland, a $2.5B health system serving over one million patients. Dr. Durand is accountable for overseeing all LBH work related to biomedical research, digital health, and value-based contracting. He also continues to practice medicine as the Chairman of Radiology across LBH.

From 2016 to 2018, Dr. Durand served as the Medical and Operational Director of the LifeBridge Health Accountable Care Organization (ACO) LLC, which achieved shared savings in all three years of its first contract with Medicare, making it one of the most financially successful health system led ACOs in the history of the Medicare ACO program. The LBH ACO, LLC also demonstrated excellent quality performance, with scores averaging over 90% over the same time period. In addition, Dr. Durand served as the first Executive Director of the LifeBridge Health Clinically Integrated Network (CIN). Under his leadership, the LifeBridge Health CIN grew to over 500 providers and cared for over 100,000 patients in value-based contracts, which has resulted in over $100 million in savings to date.

Prior to joining LifeBridge, Dr. Durand served as the first Director of Accountable Care for Johns Hopkins Medicine and oversaw operations for the Johns Hopkins Medicine Alliance for Patients, one of the nation’s largest ACOs. Prior to this role, he was part of the executive leadership team at Evolent Health where he helped grow annual revenues from $8 million to $118 million en route to a successful IPO. Prior to Evolent, Dr. Durand worked for McKinsey as an associate working out of the Firm’s Washington, DC office.

His writing has appeared in top journals such as The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) and the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). He also sits on various professional and policy committees at the state and national level and is a frequent speaker at conferences and other events on the topic of healthcare innovation.

Christie earned her MS in Rehabilitation Counseling and Substance Abuse and Clinical Counseling from East Carolina University and holds a two clinical licenses, Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist and Licensed Professional Counselor. She has worked in private sector and MCO settings during her 12 plus years in the field as a direct support professional, licensed clinician, educator and project manager. Christie has managed projects related to Assistive Technology and implementation of Evidence Based Practices. Christie currently oversees the Call Center, Housing, Neighborhood Connections, and Member Engagement and Innovative Development departments at Trillium. For the past 5 years Christie has primarily focused on developing new and innovative projects/services and addressing Social Determinants of Health in rural areas.

Dr. Kang is a psychologist and the Chief Clinical Officer for BrightView Health. After spending over five years leading behavioral health strategy and innovation for Mercy Health, the largest health system in Cincinnati, Dr. Kang joined BrightView for the opportunity to develop, implement, and research bestpractices in addiction treatment and to add to the growing national drive toward enhanced quality service delivery and positive outcomes in addiction medicine. He has devoted his professional efforts to advancing healthcare access and quality, particularly as related to behavioral health.

Beginning in 2016, Dr. Kang led the formation and operations of the Addiction Treatment Collaborative, a multi-agency treatment-on-demand network of care for addiction medicine services covering southwest Ohio. In 2017, the Mercy Health Foundation selected him for its system-level Clinician of the Year Award. In 2018, the Obama Foundation selected Dr. Kang for its inaugural two-year Fellowship class, a group of twenty civic innovators from around the world chosen by President & Mrs. Obama for their efforts in addressing the most intractable problems of our time. In 2019, the National Quality Forum selected Dr. Kang for its Technical Expert Panel on Opioid Use and Opioid Use Disorder and Ohio Governor Mike DeWine appointed him to a four-year term on the RecoveryOhio Advisory Council, a group tasked with redefining how the state delivers behavioral healthcare to its residents.

Dr. Kang lives in Kentucky with his wife and four young children.

Sherry McAllister, DC, M.S. (Ed) CCSP, serves as the Executive Vice President for the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress, the national not-for- profit organization showcasing the benefits of chiropractic care across multiple platforms with over 27 000 members. Dr. McAllister earned her Master’s in Education from the University of California East Bay and is a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic West, where she served as an Associate Professor. Recently appointed to Forbes Non-Profit Council. Dr. McAllister has served as a Qualified Medical Examiner, Expert Chiropractic Witness for the State of California, and has been in private practice in San Jose since 1996. She has been Featured in several publications including: Forbes, Becker's Spine Review, Momtastic, LiveStrong, Managed Healthcare Executive, BOSS Magazine and recently in Martha Stewart Living. Dr. McAllister recently won Top Women in Healthcare: PRNEWS and Access Intelligence. The Foundation has been honored with the prestigious PR World Awards Gold Winner in Healthcare Achievement and Honorable mention by the Ragan PR Healthcare agency.

Dr. Garrett E. Moran is a clinical psychologist, a former Dr. Garrett E. Moran is a clinical psychologist, a former state commissioner for behavioral health, and has nearly 45 years of experience in behavioral health care services research and implementation. He is the Associate Director for Services and Policy Innovation at the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and a Professor of Health Policy in the School of Public Health at West Virginia University. His primary role is to provide leadership to efforts to address the opioid and addiction epidemic in the state. Dr. Moran is currently the principal investigator and previously served as project director for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)-supported Academy for Integrating Behavioral Health and Primary Care. In that role he provided leadership for technical assistance efforts to AHRQ grantees working to implement medication assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (OUD) in rural areas of five states. He was the primary author of a recently released AHRQ report, “Implementing MAT for OUD in Rural Primary Care: An Environmental Scan.” He recently completed a study of the “Optimal Utilization of Psychosocial Support in Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder” for the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation in the Department of Health and Human Services. His major areas of substantive expertise include public policy and financing issues related to people with substance use or mental disorders, integrated health care delivery, and health information technology.

Andrew C. Philip, PhD is a clinical health psychologist and the Deputy Director of the SAMHSA-HRSA Center for Integrated Health Solutions at the National Council for Behavioral Health. He has a clinical background as a psychologist in primary care, and has assisted with large-scale training and integration efforts in federal healthcare. Dr. Philip has experience integrating behavioral health within numerous medical settings including acute trauma and intensive care, burn, neurology, palliative care, psychiatry, infectious disease, and primary care. Dr. Philip has emphasized improving care for diverse groups such as LGBTQ and veteran populations. In his work at the National Council, Dr. Philip assists in driving local and national initiatives aimed at improving patient care and promoting innovation in the field of integrated health. He speaks nationally on integration, improving patient care, and combating the opioid epidemic, and is also involved in research to further our understanding of integrated care and consultation.

Kristin Potterbusch is committed to addressing systemic barriers within public health with the goal of improving care for underserved persons and communities. She is privileged to serve as the Program Director for HRSA’s National Center for Ryan White Sustainable Strategies and as part of the Clinical and Population Health team at Primary Care Development Corporation (PCDC), where she oversees Center work, provides content expertise, and guides innovations to improve health outcomes through integrating siloed paradigms of care.

Throughout her career, she has designed and led numerous, impactful national public health programs and interventions. Prior to joining PCDC, she was Director of HIV and Behavioral Health Integration for the SAMHSA-HRSA Center for Integrated Health Solutions at The National Council for Behavioral Health where she oversaw the National Minority AIDS Initiative Continuum of Care and supported the advancement of integrated care nationally.

Kristin’s expertise spans operationalizing integrated care frameworks, designing accountable evidence-based initiatives, and executing implementation of national programing. She presents nationally and remains involved with policy efforts, organizational stewardship, and front-line health disparity research.

Devin Reaves MSW Executive Director and Co-Founder Pennsylvania Harm Reduction Coalition. Devin is a person living in recovery since 2007. He is a community organizer and grassroots advocacy leader. Devin has worked on the expansion of access to the lifesaving medication Naloxone, implantation of 911 Good Samaritan policies, and the development of youth oriented systems. He wants to build constituencies of consequence that will lead to meaningful public health policy changes around substance use disorders. Devin is the co-founder and Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Harm Reduction Coalition (PAHRC).The mission of PAHRC is to promote the health, dignity, and human rights of individuals who use drugs and communities impacted by drug use. Recognizing that social inequity, criminalization, and stigma silence those affected most, we advocate for policies that improve the quality of life for people who use drugs, people in recovery, and their communities. Devin received a Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy & Practice with a focus on community and organizational change and has a BA in Human Services from Lynn University. Devin also serves on the Pennsylvania Overdose Task Force and the Advisory Committee for the National Institute of Drug Abuse.

Scott Strenio, MD is a board-certified family physician who was in practice for 20 years in both rural Vermont and Pennsylvania before going into administrative medicine 15 years ago. He has been Medical Director for BCBSVT, VT Medicaid and UPMC Health Plan before accepting the CMO position at VT Medicaid two years ago. He is a member of the VT Chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Sarah A. Wattenberg is the director of quality and addiction services at the National Association for Behavioral Healthcare. In this role, she oversees the association’s interest, positions, and actions related to behavioral healthcare quality and addiction services. Previously, Sarah worked as senior policy advisor at the White House Office of National Drug Policy, where she was staff director for the public health group. She served on the President Obama’s parity task force and provided technical assistance on President Trump’s opioid commission report. For five years she served as the drug policy advisor to the assistant secretary for health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Before she began her work with the federal government, Sarah was the senior director for clinical policy development at one of the nation’s largest managed behavioral healthcare companies. She also directed programs for individuals with serious mental illnesses for eleven years. Sarah earned a bachelor’s degree from New York University and her master’s degree in social work from Catholic University of America.
