Featured Session

Enhance Community Supports to Promote the Rebalancing of Long-Term Care
As the baby boomers continue to age and require care, the strain on the long-term care industry to provide services for them will increase. Long-term services and supports (LTSS) are critical to keeping people in their home whenever possible; however there is often a shortage of staff and resources needed to be able to provide these services. This session will discuss innovative approaches states and health plans are taking to ensure complex populations like Duals are able to remain in their home and delay entry into a nursing home.

  • Assess the strain on the long term care industry related to staff shortages and an aging population
  • Discuss the role of Medicare-Medicaid Plans in re-balancing Long Term Care and putting more focus on the community instead of institutions
  • Analyze the types of pilot programs that are being implemented to address this shortage and train more caregivers
