An engaged patient is one who plays a more active role in their own self-care. During the pandemic, it has become even more important than ever that those in the health care ecosystem –health plans, providers, and pharmaceutical companies – find ways to better engage with patients to ensure access to treatment and care, particularly for management of chronic conditions. As the WHO puts it, “medicines will not work if you do not take them,” noting that in developed countries only 50% of patients who suffer from chronic diseases adhere to treatment recommendations. Furthermore, studies consistently show that 20-30% of patients who are prescribed a medication, don’t get it filled. And of those who do, many still are not compliant and persistent with their therapy regimen. In this webinar series, learn about a variety of strategies and approaches that health care stakeholders are employing to improve patient engagement, adherence, and experiences, particularly during the current times.
Webinar Agenda:
Cross-Stakeholder Panel: A New Era of Strategies and Innovations to Help Patients Start and Stay On Therapy, Improve the Patient Experience, and Achieve Better Health Outcomes
With the shift in the pandemic environment, a light was shined on the need for the health care community to offer support to patients in a variety of new and different ways to enable them to become better stewards of their health. It also showed us that many patients are now ready to engage and open up the lanes of communications, particularly through digital platforms. It is driving us to reimagine ways that we can use all of our channels to meet the challenges patients are facing – including how we can use technology to help patients start and stay on therapy, with the goal of improving medication adherence, compliance, and persistency. During this keynote cross-stakeholder panel, learn how organizations are incorporating the patient voice into their solutions and driving change through a multi-disciplinary effort to enhance patient engagement, improve the patient experience, and better support patients to achieve healthier outcomes.
- Discuss the current needs of patients, attitudes towards engagement and digital offerings, and the challenges and opportunities uncovered as a result of the pandemic and current economic climate
- Examine ways organizations are tailoring programs to meet the unique needs of their population
- Hear about technologies and digital platforms that are successfully engaging patients to address barriers to starting or staying on therapy
- Learn how and why using secure messaging has proven to be successful for one organization
- Discuss advancements in interoperability and other ways stakeholders are collaborating to improve the patient journey and more easily navigate the health care ecosystem

How Psychology and Technology are Bridging the Gap in a Covid World
Empowering people to change behavior has always been challenging, yet Covid-19 has introduced new obstacles to adherence and a wide range of health behaviors, influencing access to medicines and health care professionals. Receiving a new diagnosis can be challenging, over the past year it has become even more difficult for individuals to accept and understand as new care (and diagnoses) are predominantly being delivered remotely.
- Gain insight into how behavioral assessment tools can provide valuable insight to understand how people see their illness and their treatment so that you can design interventions that have a lasting impact on their health behaviors, and ultimately improve health outcomes
- Help individuals make more informed decisions around treatment options – particularly when there is information everywhere, and everyone is different – by combining psychology and digital tools to better understand and address a patient’s individual needs
- Assist those who are recently diagnosed to better understand and accept their illness and treatment, with an eye towards what this means in relation to new digital solutions in today’s mostly virtual care world
- Examine the impact of Covid-19 on individuals with pre-existing conditions, and learn about new data-driven innovations to improve health outcomes in real time

Consider the Digital Hub: An Enterprise-Based Approach for Digitally Supporting the Patient at Each Step of their Health Care Journey
While traditional patient access/support programs do a good job of supporting the health care provider experience, patients are often left in the dark wondering what is happening and what's next, and thereby resulting in drop-offs or walk-a-ways. In this session, reimagine how patients experience traditional patient support with the Digital Hub – digitally infused end-to-end patient support for frictionless patient experiences.
- Examine the points in the patient journey where digital solutions keep patients engaged and informed, particularly through the initial access and coverage determination process
- Explore how tracking tools and on-demand functionality can increase engagement
- See how digital solutions address barriers to medication adherence, while also improving fill rates and persistency
- Consider the benefits of an integrated hub, copay, and long-term medication management/adherence program
