Ezekiel Emanuel Ezekiel Emanuel, PhD, MD, MSc

Ezekiel J. Emanuel is the Vice Provost for Global Initiatives, the Diane v.S. Levy and Robert M. Levy University Professor, and Co-Director of the Healthcare Transformation Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. From January 2009 to January 2011, Dr. Emanuel served as a Special Advisor on Health Policy to the Director of the Office of Management and Budget and National Economic Council. Prior to that he was the founding chair of the Department of Bioethics at the National Institutes of Health from 1997 to August of 2011. Dr. Emanuel received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School and his Ph.D. in political philosophy from Harvard University. He has published over 300 articles, mainly on health care reform, research ethics, and end of life care. He has also authored or edited 15 books. His new book Which Country Has the World’s Best Health Care? will be published in June. Dr. Emanuel is the most widely cited bioethicist in history.

 
Mary Tilak Mary Tilak, MD

Dr. Mary Tilak is a Physician Entrepreneur and Population Health Executive with 20 years of experience in primary care.

She completed residency in Internal medicine at the University of Illinois, Chicago and Masters in Business Administration at the Kelley School of Business, IUPUI.

Mentored by her mother, a physician entrepreneur in India, who dedicated her life and career to the care of the underserved population in her home town, Dr. Tilak founded a clinically integrated primary care and preventive care program in Lake County. She continues to practice and direct the program which now delivers care to several thousand residents in Northwest Indiana.

Dr. Tilak holds a strong passion in leading transformative change to attain the triple aim – better patient access, better population health, and lower cost.

She continues to promote cross disciplinary collaboration of care with her colleagues and drives co-production of healthcare with the community through her social media and radio platforms.

 
Brent Asplin Brent Asplin, MD

Brent Asplin is President of Village Medical, the employed primary care group within VillageMD. Prior to this role, Brent was VillageMD’s Chief Operating Officer, where he had accountability for execution across all of Village’s markets. An emergency physician, Brent previously served as Chief Clinical Officer for both Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis and Mercy Health in Ohio and Kentucky. Dr. Asplin has led system-wide transformations that drove success in value-based care in multiple settings. He also served in a range of emergency medicine and other leadership roles with the Mayo Clinic and HealthPartners in Minnesota.

Tom Cornwell, MD, is the Senior Medical Director of Village Medical at Home and a leading physician in home-based primary care. Dr. Cornwell has made over 33,000 house calls to more than 4,000 homebound patients. He joined VillageMD to help increase access to home care nationally. His innovative care has received numerous awards, including the first-ever “House Call Doctor of the Year,” and the “Pride in the Profession” award given by the American Medical Association to four “heroes in health care in America.” Dr. Cornwell has received local and national media coverage, including features in The New York Times and TIME magazine, and on PBS.
