Ken Lay was named to his current position in February 1986, following the merger of Houston Natural Gas and InterNorth, Inc. in July 1985. Mr. Lay was named one of the 25 top managers for 1996 by Business Week, was selected to receive the Private Sector Council’s 1997 Leadership Award. Under his leadership Enron has grown significantly and generated over $30 billion in revenues in 1998 and has approximately $30 billion in assets. In 1999, for the fourth consecutive year, Fortune named Enron "America’s Most Innovative Company."
