Gerrie van Zyl is the founder of healthbridge, the leading healthcare information exchange operating in the South African healthcare industry. He started healthbridge in March 1999 based on the vision of addressing many of the unnecessary costs and better aligning incentives.

On the back of healthbridge's innovative products and services it has grown into the largest exchange and is responsible for switching more than 60 percent of the industry's claims. healthbridge's real-time fully processed claims, the healthbridge Hospital Suite and revenue cycle management products are all world-firsts.

Gerrie holds Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering is from the University of Stellenbosch.

Prior to HealthBridge Gerrie was a senior consultant at a leading global strategy-consulting firm, The Monitor Company.
