Purpose -- The launch of an initiative spearheaded by The World Bank and the World Economic Development Congress aimed at promoting best practices in delivery of services; strategies for IT and communications; investment and development of infrastructure; and responsible civic and financial governance in large cities.

8th Annual World Economic Development Congress

Date -- September 22-24, 1999
Location -- Washington, DC
Venue -- Omni Shoreham Hotel

Purpose -- The World Economic Development Congress annually convenes over 1200 government ministers and business leaders from across the globe in a dialogue for advancing the development of infrastructure and national economies. The World Economic Development Congress is a year-round initiative with a focus on building partnerships and developing strategies to mobilize international investment capital, technology and expertise.
