Inaugural New England eHealth Innovation Conference
The New England eHealth Innovation Conference represents the first in series of regional forums bringing together leading health care providers and payors with eHealth entrepreneurs to showcase and accelerate health care innovation across the nation. The Conference will pair an eHealth Innovation Open, which seeks through competition to recognize and award outstanding new health information technology (HIT) solutions, along with partnering sessions to match top innovative health care and solution providers with the goal of launching pilot projects across the region which will accelerate health care innovation, improve care provision and lower its cost.
Why is innovation and entrepreneurship in health care important? According to Wil Yu, Special Assistant for Innovation at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), ONC is directly supporting innovation in health IT to accelerate the nation’s progress toward a high-performing, adaptive health care system.” Scott Case, CEO of the Obama administration’s new StartUp America Partnership, agreed, noting that “driving American entrepreneurship is critical to creating jobs and sustaining our nation’s global leadership.” World Congress’ eHealth Innovation programming, including the New England eHealth Innovation Conference, is in line with and supports the objectives of the ONC, its programs and initiatives, including the Investing in Innovation (I2) Initiative and the StartUp America Partnership. The I2 Initiative was announced in May 2011 and funds the Developer Challenge and health technology innovation tournaments across the country. StartUp America was announced by the White House in February to encourage investments in new technologies and businesses through efforts such as the creation of Innovation Exchange events like the New England eHealth Innovation Conference. The New England eHealth Innovation Conference now seeks the participation of Hospitals and Healthcare Provider Organizations and Payors from across New England plus eHealth Start-Ups and Entrepreneurs from across the country, along with support from industry partners & corporate sponsors. The New England eHealth Innovation Conference will solicit applications from health IT entrepreneurs nationwide and, with the assistance of a world-class Advisory Board, match ten (10) finalists with ten regional (10) providers and payors for a series of educational and match-making sessions with the end goal of standing up a minimum of a dozen (12) new eHealth innovation pilots across the six states which make up New England – Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. A Call for Participation
In June 2011 the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) introduced its Investing in Innovation (i2) Initiative to accelerate eHealth innovation nationwide. Five months later, the Center for Medicaid and Medicare (CMS) Innovation Center announced $1B in new funding to support health innovation projects across the country. In support and recognition of these historic events, World Congress is proud to announce the World Congress eHealth Innovation Conference – New England, scheduled to take place on March 15, 2012 in Cambridge, MA, together with Boston considered the largest medical marketplace in the U.S..
The Conference is now soliciting applications from health IT entrepreneurs nationwide. Ten (10) finalists (chosen by a World Class Advisory Council (see below) made up of leading regional healthcare decision-makers) will be matched with ten (10) regional providers and payors for a series of educational and match-making sessions with the end goal of standing up eHealth innovation pilots across the six New England states (ie., Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont). The first fifty (50) applicants will be eligible to be considered. A limited number of tickets will also be made available to the public to participate in this historic event.
Online Application Fee & Deadline: There is a one time, non-refundable $100.00 application fee. If chosen to participate, this fee will be applied towards an applicant’s Participation Fee (see below). As stated above, the first fifty (50) applications received will be eligible for review by each member of our elite Advisory Council (see below), an excellent stand-alone marketing opportunity itself! Participation Fee: If you apply before the January 27th deadline, we will discount the $1000.00 participation fee by 50%! ($500). The Participation fee includes: 1) event tickets for two ($495 each, General Admission), 2) live audience presentation, 3) media support and 3) three “Deep Dive” meetings plus networking sessions with leading healthcare decision-makers (again, please see our Advisory Council below).
