As the Director of Supply Chain Commercialization, Richard works as a senior supply chain leader at Intermountain Healthcare to deliver the supply chain triple aim of ‘Becoming a Model’. This effort includes our strategy to share supply chain best practices and make available to other providers our supply chain products and services. He has a proven track record of leading complex and diverse teams to deliver exceptional customer value. He has lead major award winning supply chain initiatives like our procurement transformation and our product standardization.

Prior to his current role, he led the category management team at Intermountain. He has worked for 3M Health Information Systems in development of their electronic medical records. He has also worked for Siemens developing commercial IT products. He is a graduate from the University of Utah with a degree in computer science and also has a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix where he has taught 17 years.

LeAnn Born serves as vice president of supply chain for Fairview Health Services. In this role, she has responsibility for the centralized administration of the sourcing, contracting, value analysis, acquisition, logistics, inventory management, procure-to-pay, instrument sterilization, new technology assessment, vendor management and business enterprise system (PeopleSoft) support teams. Ms. Born joined Fairview in 2010 with more than 16 years of experience in health care operations and supply chain leadership roles. Most recently, she served as vice president of custom contracting services for Novation, the contracting services company of University HealthSystem Consortium, VHA and Provista. Prior to joining Novation, Ms. Born held several leadership positions during her 12 years of service at Allina Hospitals & Clinics in Minneapolis, including interim vice president of supply chain. She holds a Master’s Degree of healthcare administration from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and a Bachelors of Business Administration Degree in marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Lili Brillstein is a nationally recognized thought leader in the advancement of Episodes of Care as a value-based approach for specialty care. She is the Director of Episodes of Care for the Market Innovations team of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, and, under her leadership, has built the largest program for commercially insured patients in the country.

Lili is responsible for the overall direction, strategy, design and oversight of the Horizon Episodes of Care/Bundled Payment Program. When Lili joined Horizon in January of 2013, the Episodes program was still in pilot and included only total hip and total knee replacement episodes. The program has grown to include additional orthopaedic episodes (including low back/laminectomy, shoulder replacement, knee arthroscopy), obstetrics and gynecology, GI (including a Crohn’s episode with a fully integrated behavioral health component), cardiology, and oncology.

Lili is a passionate advocate of Episodes of Care/Bundled Payments as a strategy to successfully migrate from fee for service to quality- & value-based models that rewards providers for excellent outcomes and patient experience, while reducing the overall cost of healthcare.

Her expertise at cultivating functionally collaborative relationships between payers and providers across the full continuum of health care has allowed not only the pillars of the triple aim to be achieved, but the spirit of the relationships has shifted from one of adversaries to one of collaborators.

As vice president of supply chain logistics & distribution for BJC HealthCare, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit health care organizations, Steve Kiewiet leads a logistics and distribution network consisting of more than 150 people across the 13-hospital system. He is also responsible for strategic oversight and contracting for non-clinical purchased services throughout the $3.8 billion system and is an executive lead for logistics/distribution design on a 10-year, $2 billion Washington University Medical Center campus renewal project.

Prior to joining BJC, Kiewiet was director of operations for Cardinal Health where he focused on strategy and development, and management of multi-million dollar business operations with specific expertise in health care supply chain, sales and distribution environments. He has also held management roles at Defibtech, LLC, PSS/World Medical, Inc. and MCR/American Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Kiewiet, Six Sigma Lean Black Belt and CMRP certified, was a Hospital Corpsman for the U.S. Navy for 10 years where he served a variety of forward deployed combat units. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Saint Leo University in Florida, and a master’s degree in business administration from University of Tulsa.

He is active in many professional organizations throughout the region, including the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM), Boy Scouts of America and American Red Cross.

A native of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Kiewiet lives in St. Peters with his wife and four children.

Sandi Michel is the Corporate Director of The Office of Data Standards & Interoperability at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System in Baton Rouge Louisiana where she currently leads the implementation of GS1 Global Data Standards. Ms. Michel held senior level leadership positions as Vice President of Technology and Operations and Director for US Voice and Data Network Services for two of the largest global and domestic premier communications companies.

Ms. Michel has a Master's Certification in Project Management through Steven's Institute of Technology and AT&T; Bell Laboratories, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Certification, a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt; she has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.

Terri Nelson leads the Clinical Quality Value Analysis Team. This team facilitates the Value Analysis process, maintains the Product Formulary and manages the Product Recall/ Issue System across all Mayo Clinic campus ; in addition the team provides Value Analysis insight to members of the Upper Midwest Consolidated Service Center (UMCSC).

Value Analysis is the process used when working with clinical and support staff to identify product which achieve the best clinical and financial outcomes.

Terri has been employed at Mayo Clinic for over 30 years in the roles of Staff Nurse, Nurse Manager, Practice Analysis and most recently as the Director of Value Analysis. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winona State University, Winona MN and Master’s Degree with a dual focus in in Health Human Service Administration and Management from St. Mary’s University, Winona MN.

Prior to joining SMI, Orthman served as Principal Consultant with BD Healthcare Consulting and Services, where he worked with healthcare clients around the country to streamline their internal supply chain operations. In his career as a healthcare supply chain consultant, Orthman served in leadership roles as a Director for VHA Improvement Services and as a Senior Consultant for Concepts in Healthcare. At the provider level, Orthman began his supply chain career at Boston City Hospital and also served in operational leadership at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center and at the corporate level for Partners Healthcare System where he was responsible for system contracting and supply utilization. Throughout his career, he has contributed to industry publications, managed multifaceted million dollar projects, facilitated senior management initiatives, implemented new systems and processes, and successfully delivered positive results for his clients.

Orthman is a member of AHRMM, a past board member of HCMMS, and remains an active member in a variety of local community associations and charities. He was recently recognized by Healthcare Purchasing News as being among healthcare supply chain influencers to watch.

Michael Schiller, CMRP is Senior Director of Supply Chain for the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM), a personal membership group of the American Hospital Association (AHA). As the organization’s subject matter expert he brings more than 25 years of healthcare supply chain experience to his role. In this capacity, Schiller collaborates with industry leaders across the healthcare landscape on various healthcare, supply chain, and advocacy initiatives as well as works with AHA and AHRMM executive leadership on the development of the association’s strategic initiatives including the Cost, Quality, and Outcomes Movement and the Learning UDI Community.
