Rick Abbott is the Vice President of Product and Market Solutions, for Premera Blue Cross, providing leadership and oversight for aligning the organization’s overall product strategy.

Abbott joined Premera in 2018 from Imagine Health, a startup focused on creating high-performance health plans for national employers.

Abbott served as Vice President Customer Success at Castlight Health, Vice President Health Plan Services at Health Data Management Solutions (HDMS), Senior Manager of Data Use for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and Director BHI Programs for the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.

Abbott completed his undergraduate education at Iowa State University with a major in advertising. He attained a Master of Business Administration degree from DePaul University with an emphasis in health sector management and has completed graduate coursework in Medical Informatics at Northwestern University.

He resides in Kirkland, Washington, with his wife and five children.

Oliver Wyman

Tom Robinson is a San Francisco-based partner at Oliver Wyman.  He advises boards and senior executives on strategic topics in insurance and the evolving healthcare landscape. An avid general aviation pilot with an engineering background, Tom brings a pragmatic, quantitative approach to setting strategy and transforming the healthcare industry. He started out in financial services and saw the opportunity to apply the lessons learned working with bank and insurance company leaders to healthcare.  

Tom’s knack for strategic thinking helps new organizations get off the ground, mend broken processes, and drive meaningful cultural changes that help both individual companies and the greater healthcare industry thrive and flourish. He particularly enjoys building and launching businesses with his clients, from payer-provider joint ventures to digital start-ups and new insurance lines. Recent experience includes:

  • Planning and launching new businesses and joint ventures across the insurance and healthcare spectrum: Business case development, partner selection and negotiation, detailed operational planning and launch management.
  • Conducting major vision and strategy setting exercises on behalf of the C-suites of insurers and provider systems (from large hospital systems to IPAs), plus venture capitalists and private equity investors
  • Advising health, life and property and casualty insurers on their approaches to grow and improve experience through innovation and digital capabilities
  • Developing and implementing strategic plans to overhaul health systems: Putting new organizational designs in place, redesigning processes, and driving cultural changes
  • Applying modern modular product architecture and pricing approaches to product development
  • Applying quantitative risk management to ensure the sustainability of strategic plans, including advising on capital planning and rating agency / regulator interactions

Tom speaks often about his views on the business of transforming healthcare on stage and in the national press, including The New York Times and CNBC. He’s also a regular contributor of articles and podcasts to Oliver Wyman Health. Prior to joining Oliver Wyman, Tom worked at AXA in a strategic business support and development function. Tom holds a Master of Arts and Master of Engineering from Cambridge University.

Marc Willard Marc Willard
Senior Vice President, Digital Health and Analytics Products and Experience

Marc Willard is the Senior Vice President of Humana Digital Health and Analytics (DH&A) Products and Experience. He is responsible for advancing Humana’s digital transformation through the development of digital products and strategies aimed at unifying and enhancing member, care team and associate experiences. In addition, he is responsible for discovering and engaging with leading-edge, third-party companies to accelerate the development of novel products foundational to Humana’s mission of helping people achieve lifelong well-being and making health care transparent, personalized, integrated and easy. As a representative of Humana, Marc also serves as a member of The Consumer Technology Association (CTA), Health and Fitness Technology Board.

Marc is an accomplished technology entrepreneur and senior leader with over three decades of experience establishing and leading startups focused on digital and data processing technologies, aimed at solving complex problems across the digital imaging, insurance and health care industries. In 1989, at the age of 24, he founded ColourPass Ltd., a European leader in the digital imaging market, which he successfully sold to Raster Graphics Inc. in 1997. In 2003, he founded Certify Data Systems Inc., a pioneer of health care interoperability technology, while working as an entrepreneur-in-residence at Ricoh Innovations. Certify became a prominent leader in provider-based health information exchange and interoperability throughout North America by 2011. In 2012, he successfully sold Certify to Humana.

In 2014, Marc launched Transcend Insights, a former wholly owned subsidiary of Humana. The organization’s mission was to drive better health and wellness outcomes by leveraging leading-edge, digital technology for population health. Today, these solutions are deployed across Humana’s business verticals.

Marc studied Electronic Engineering at Farnborough College of Technology, and in classic entrepreneurial style, left to focus on his first start-up.

Outside of work, Marc enjoys spending time with his wife and family, collecting classic cars and being out on the water. He also mentors entrepreneurs while supporting the startup community, which he finds very rewarding.
