Affordable housing has proven to have positive effects on health which results in improved outcomes.  The COVID-19 crisis threatens the safety of residents living in affordable housing as well as the industry’s push to build and develop new housing to address the needs of our most vulnerable populations while integrating health services.  With few strategies in place to effectively manage the crisis, health plan members and individuals seen in FQHCs and other community-based organizations (CBOs) are prone to experience a disruption of daily, health-related services and consequently their ability to remain stable and out of the hospital.  In addition, as the pace of affordable housing slows down, the risk of losing low income housing tax credits (LIHTC) becomes a real possibility unless states and other stakeholders take action to amend tax-based rules.

Hear from the leaders in the nation and discuss the impact of COVID-19 on the industry and what can be done to preserve affordable housing now and for generations to come. Gain insight into:

  • Recommended changes to the Housing Tax Credit Program, expected impacts, and what supportive housing collaborators can do to ensure enactment
  • Developing, communicating, and implementing resident/member-focused crisis management plans that mitigate the risks associated with the virus and disruption of services
  • Realizing opportunities to maximize the benefits of telemedicine and tele-communications for Medicaid and Medicare populations under new CMS guidelines
