The Engelberg Center is studying ways to provide practical solutions for access, quality and financing challenges facing the U. S. health care system. To carry out this mission the Center takes a distinctive, collaborative approach to addressing the nation’s leading health care challenges and developing practical and sustainable approaches to addressing them.

Dr. McClellan, the Director of the Center, has a highly distinguished record in public service and in academic research. He is the former administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (2004-2006) and the former commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (2002-2004).

We are pleased to announce that Dr. McClellan will be giving the Opening Keynote Address for the Leadership Summit on Performance and Outcomes-Based Payment Models, February 25-26, 2010 in Orlando, FL.

His presentation addresses: Payment Models - Reforming Provider Reimbursement: Transitioning to Accountability for Health Outcomes and Overall Costs . He explores the three key features of an ACO and the foundation that must be laid for successful implementation and much more. View the entire session description as well as the complete agenda and expert speaker faculty confirmed to date for this unique Summit.

At this Summit the audience will gain insight into the current state-of-the art on performance-based payment programs from the provider, physician, payer and employer perspectives as well as the newest alternative payment models like Prometheus Payment, Geisinger's ProvenCare, the "Alternative Quality Contract" at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and outstanding Medical Home or ACO programs that are being discussed and debated on the national scene as solutions to the current problem with our health care system.

We look forward to seeing you in Orlando this February.
