Resdida: Affordable Bi-Directional Communications
Presenter:
Ms. Karen Vincent, COO, Resdida
Resdida has developed a program-focused, enabling technology that expands reach and increases impact through the effective distribution and collection of data to and from the field. This is accomplished via bi-directional SMS communication between a simple, standard mobile phone and an easy to use turnkey web application that is fully integrated, requires no installation and is affordable, scalable and easy to use. The result is that health organizations and their employees have an efficient means to send and receive critical data in the most remote places, update databases, send outbreak warnings, collect geographic coordinates, distribute key instructions, ask important questions, make service announcements and track program metrics (measurement and evaluation). In addition to communicating with key employees in the field, the technology can be used to communicate critical information to the poor as well, thereby reducing the cost of service delivery and extending the services to reach the otherwise unreachable and to reach the reachable more often. Organizations are empowered to pay more or less based on need and can financially subsidize the license through a variety of models. The software is built for easy scaling and the service is structured to be fully sustainable, which distinguishes it from many other grant-based programs. Resdida allows health organizations to leverage affordable and easy to use technology toward expanding their reach and increasing their impact.
