Affordable, Sustainable Mobile Health Delivery
Presenter: Mr. Don Yansen, Director, ClickHealth

ClickHealth addresses two main health care issues in developing countries: 1. Access to medical specialists in under-served regions; 2. Collection of real-time data for interventions in areas such as cancer, HIV/AIDS and maternal mortality. ClickHealth connects health workers on the ground, via mobile phone software, to a central web-based system. This model enables the following essential services: 1. Allow doctors to provide consultations that can be relayed to the patient by the community health worker. 2. Convey automatic early warnings to health intervention programs or actions to health workers based on in-field data gathered. 3. Enable exchange of medical knowledge between local health workers and remote specialists and development of enhanced training for local medical personnel. ClickHealth partners with ClickDiagnostics for turning mobile health solutions into rapidly scalable service models that provides governments and NGOs an entire “health eco-system”, an end-to-end service chain, containing the following: 1) mobile phone software and inexpensive medical tools for local health care agents, 2) web-based interface for remote specialists, 3) backend system for data routing, intelligent analysis and auto-flagging of health hazards, 4) network of “remote” medical specialists, 5) health-worker training and 6) service quality control through regular monitoring and supervision. The mobile-based telemedicine service is built around microcredit for health-workers and micro-health insurance for patients. This effective turn-key solution is being implemented in several African and South Asian countries for various health concerns with minimal infrastructure cost.
